Steamwork Mahar

This guy has been sitting around a couple years waiting to be finished. I just hadn't been happy with the overall composition, but there were some elements (like the hind leg and that view of the back) that I really wanted to keep. In the end, I decided to go with it, even though I suspect it's a pretty niche pet.

Basically (since Mahars are pretty big on jewels) this is a jewelcrafting pet. The tail spikes became diamond drills (which he's inspecting. I'd have liked a gem or something there, but that would have been too much of a prop. Plus, this way people can edit in whatever they like for an overlay.) and he's got jeweler's loupes around his goggle eyes.

There are a lot of little elements I'm fond of, but in the end I just wish I'd had a bigger canvas to work with. I mean, it's on me to make the one I've got work, but still.
